David Brown started as a print maker, depicting colorful illustrations of mundane objects from his surroundings within daily life, but gradually evolved to painting and developed a new language of abstraction. While experimenting with different textures, colors and shapes, the artist tries to lose control over the work, resulting in a unique outcome. Brown starts from one element and progresses freely with many layers and a variety of paint media, not only he adds materials to the canvas, in some areas Brown deconstructs his own work to give more space to the underlying structures. Every layer is as important since it leaves a trail of narrative through the creation process and adds more depth to the texture.
