Arinze Stanley

Arinze Stanley Egbengwu was born on 20th November 1993 in Lagos, Nigeria and graduated from Imo State University with a degree in agricultural engineering.  At age 24 he won 1st Place in the American Art Awards for best Self Portrait.

Starting at an early age of 6, Arinze has always been enthusiastic about drawing realistic portraits on paper through his drawings.  Being exposed to his family’s paper business, Arinze grew to love paper and pencils as his toys at a very tender age.  Over the years he gradually taught himself how to master both Pencils and Paper in harmony through what he calls his three P’s namely Patience, Practice and Persistence. These have guided him throughout his journey as an artist.

Arinze works in a genre of art called Hyperrealism, which is considered an advancement of Photorealism.  With no form of training, spending over 200 – 300 hours or about 2 months per piece, Arinze drives at creating art that portray intense emotions.

“My art is born out of the undying zeal of perfection both in skill and expression as I find myself spending countless hours working on  a drawing.

I draw inspiration from life experiences and basically everything that sparks a feeling of necessity. I love to stimulate deep and strong emotions, as I find them most attractive.

Most times it’s almost like I lose control of my pencils and like energy transfer, the art flows through me from my pencil to the paper.

I work with my Principle of the Three P’s namely Patience, Practice and Persistence. These have guided me over the years towards perfecting my craft.”
