Context

Staged during Miami Art Week at Oliver Cole Gallery, Mood Swings was designed as more than a conventional group exhibition. The Art Plug brought together more than 20 local and international artists in a format that balanced commercial presentation, visual accessibility, and experiential energy within one of Miami’s busiest art-week environments. A defining component of the show was the inclusion of Raise The Caliber, a socially driven activation by DetroitWick and Black Crow Studios that transformed SHREDS firearm remnants into artworks. By integrating this work into the exhibition, the project expanded beyond a standard group show and introduced a direct social-impact layer tied to anti-gun-violence messaging and charitable giving. That structure helped establish an early curatorial pattern for The Art Plug: treating exhibitions as platforms where market-facing presentation, immersive engagement, and mission-driven storytelling could coexist in the same space. “Coming from Miami, I’ve always embraced culture and diversity. It’s important to express yourself and to get your a message across. Art is a great outlet for this: you can create a meaning out of no meaning. Context

Power House 2018 was conceived as an alternative to the white-cube and fair-booth formats that dominate Art Basel week. Instead of asking audiences to move through a conventional exhibition setting, The Art Plug transformed a former police impound lot into a multi-sensory environment where contemporary art, nightlife, performance, and brand activation could all coexist. The project featured more than 30 interactive installations and experiences, along with live performance elements, special guest DJs, sponsor lounges, pop-ups, and artist-driven activations. The program included the High Hemp stage, a Stoli Gold VIP lounge, an Electric Gallery exposition of original artworks, and pop-up collaborations with brands such as Strata and Hip + Bone. AholSniffsGlue also anchored a high-visibility portion of the event with monster truck and Sniper Gang street bike programming, adding a level of spectacle that reinforced the event’s departure from conventional art-world presentation. The site itself was crucial to the concept. Its industrial scale and raw atmosphere made it possible to build an environment that felt immersive, slightly chaotic, and socially charged. Mood Swings (Booth #114) featured works by AholSniffsGlue, CB Hoyo, John Paul Fauves, and Tiago Magro, expanding on the Mood Swings exhibition series with a focus on contemporary street and pop-influenced artists. These Are Not Photos (Booth #120) presented hyperrealist charcoal works by Nigerian artists Arinze Stanley and Ayo Filade, whose drawings are often mistaken for photography due to their extreme level of detail. Additional programming included Fake Fulfilment Center (Booth #320), an immersive installation by Shawn Kolodny examining themes of consumerism and addiction through a satirical Amazon-style environment, and Raise The Caliber (Booth #417), a social-impact exhibition created in collaboration with Black Crow Studios and DetroitWick that used SHREDS®—repurposed gun fragments—to raise awareness around gun violence in partnership with the nonprofit Caliber Foundation. The project featured a rotating group of artists including Nychos, CB Hoyo, Zevi G, Somehoodlum, Shawn Kolodny, Stillz, and Lefty Out There, with works ranging from live-painted large-scale canvases to immersive installation pieces built for audience interaction. Visitors could walk through oversized pill bottles by Shawn Kolodny, encounter Zevi G’s money-bag sculptures, see Nychos painting on 11-foot canvases, and pre-order limited-edition works directly tied to the activation. The project was designed to feel native to festival culture rather than imported from the traditional art world. Context

Electric Jungle applied The Art Plug’s experiential logic to transportation infrastructure, treating trains, stations, and ride-share touchpoints as programmable cultural space. Working with Lyft and Brightline, the project reframed commuting as part of the event experience rather than a purely logistical prelude to it. The activation transformed select Brightline trains into moving environments filled with faux foliage, art by Tiago Magro and Lefty Out There, light installations, music, media moments, and surprise guests. Brightline stations also featured media walls and animated content, while Lyft pickup and drop-off areas were turned into visual touchpoints that connected the train journey with the wider Miami Music Week atmosphere. What made the project distinctive was that it embedded art and branded storytelling directly into mobility. Instead of asking audiences to seek out an installation, Electric Jungle met them in transit and made the journey itself part of the cultural event.

The program also incorporated motocross riders including Ronnie Renner, Tyler Bereman, Gregg Duffy, and TJ Tiffany, adding a physical-performance dimension that pushed the project beyond exhibition and into choreographed spectacle. Community partners such as Best Buddies and Paddle8 added a philanthropic and civic component within the broader cultural programming. The significance of the 2019 edition lies in that expansion. It showed that Power House could move beyond a single iconic site and still maintain a coherent identity, proving the platform could function as an annual cultural property rather than a one-off event.

Anchored by a prominent Times Square billboard, the campaign replaced standard digital or printed formats with a hand-painted work by Jason Naylor, introducing a human, tactile quality into one of the world’s most commercial advertising environments. The campaign extended into key cultural markets including New York, Miami, Chicago, Las Vegas, and Fort Lauderdale, with murals executed by artists such as Grabster, Ahol Sniffs Glue, Lefty Out There, and Ripes. In Miami, placements in Wynwood embedded the campaign directly within one of the most recognized street art districts globally, increasing relevance among art-focused audiences.
